La banda inglesa formada en Wigan, Inglaterra, en 1989 estuvo compuesta originalmente por el vocalista Richard Ashcroft, el guitarrista Nick McCabe, el bajista Simon Jones y el baterista Peter Salisbury. Simon Tong se incorporó posteriormente como guitarrista.
